Job Description

The Operation and Maintenance Shift Technician is responsible for carrying out daily operation and maintenance tasks during assigned shifts. The role involves monitoring equipment, performing routine inspections, executing minor repairs, responding to faults, and supporting the smooth functioning of plant operations to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and operate equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, HVAC systems, and utility systems during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks as per the schedule.
  • Identify and troubleshoot faults or abnormalities and escalate major issues to the engineer or supervisor.
  • Carry out basic mechanical or electrical repairs (depending on qualification).
  • Record daily operation parameters, maintenance activities, and downtime events accurately.
  • Assist in the startup, shutdown, and changeover procedures for equipment and systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area and comply with all safety protocols.
  • Support emergency response efforts in case of equipment failures or plant disruptions.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to complete shift handovers and ensure continuity.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are handled properly and report any damage or losses.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience in a plant, utility, or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems (depending on specialization).
  • Familiarity with maintenance procedures and safety standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a rotating shift environment, including nights and weekends.
  • Team player with a responsible and proactive attitude.
